AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed that Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain is planning to leave the club, with reports that he wants to move to Chelsea.
The 31-year-old striker joined the Lombardi club last July on loan from Juventus for a season with the option to buy, but suffered in the team and did not perform the expected performance, scoring only eight goals in various competitions.
Higuain did not score Saturday in the match against Sampdoria in the 16th round of the Italian Cup and Milan won 2-0.

“When a player makes his decision, it becomes difficult to convince him otherwise,” Gattuso said after the game. “My relationship with him is based on full frankness, and we tell the matter to each other as it is.”
“Now he is our player and we are sticking to him, I do not know what will happen.”
Italian media reported this week that Higuain had reached an agreement with Chelsea to join the club, where he will return to play under the supervision of Italian coach Maurizio Sari, his former coach in Naples.
Milan paid 18 million euros to borrow Higuain, in a deal that included an item that could make the move always for an additional 36 million euros.
Higuain has the best season of Italian football with Sari in Naples, scoring 36 league goals in the 2015-2016 season. In his three years at Napoli, the Argentinian striker scored 91 goals before moving to Juventus in 2016 for 90 million euros.
