Bournemouth skipper Simon Francis out for the rest of the season with injury

Bournemouth captain Simon Francis will be out of action until the end of the season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury on Wednesday during a 5-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

The player was subjected to a medical examination today, where the nature of his injury was discovered and is likely to be absent for a period of between 6 and 9 months.

“Simon’s serious injury destroyed us, it’s a big blow to us, because we have lost our captain and a person who has had a good performance, over a long period of time,” Bournemouth coach Ede Hao said in remarks to the club’s official website.
