Jan Oblak is a key element in the formation of coach Diego Simeone, who compared his situation at Atletico Madrid to the position of Barcelona goalkeeper Mark André Ter Stegen.
The new contract included a higher penalty requirement of 20 million euros, and the penalty clause would be 120 million euros instead of 100 million, just as the penalty requirement would be increased.
The Slovenian goalkeeper’s salary rose to 10 million euros per season.
“I am very happy to renew my contract with Atletico and to continue here to defend these colors as best I can,” said Oblak.
“Oblak arrived at Atletico in 2014 and five years later became one of the best goalkeepers in the world, thanks to his commitment and hard work,” said Roque Blancos.
The Slovenian goalkeeper has played 203 matches at Atletico and managed to keep his net clean 115 times.
