The 51-year-old will be part of Lombardy’s campaign of change. The last days have resulted in the departure of Gennaro Gattuso, Brazilian sports director Leonardo, the promotion of legendary defender Paolo Maldini to the post of technical director and the return of former Croatian midfielder Zvonimir Boban.
Despite finishing fifth in Serie A last season, AC Milan have yet to decide their participation in the UEFA Champions League next season due to their lack of fair play rules.
The European Union decided earlier this month to stop the proceedings against AC Milan until the matter was resolved by the appeal to the CAS.
Italian media reports have indicated that Marco Giampaolo has decided to leave Sampdoria, which he has been managing since 2016, and that his next destination will be the Rossoneri to replace Gennaro Gattuso, who has decided to leave after failing to qualify for the Champions League.
