Napoli vs Crotone Prediction & Match Preview

03 April 2021 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET Serie A Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

Napoli will be looking to extend their winning run to four games when they take on Crotone at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Matchday 29.

The Neapolitans did well to beat Roma in the “Eternal City” before the international break, with Dries Mertens scoring a brace, and they must be high on confidence ahead of the visit of Crotone.

Even though towering defender Koulibaly remains sidelined through suspension, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. Aforementioned attacker Mertens should be fit to face the Rossoblu.

Crotone, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in back-to-back defeats to Lazio and Bologna.

Since Napoli look unstoppable at the moment in the Italian top flight, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise.

Petriccione is banned for the match, while all Ounas, Cigarini, and Luperto are out of contention with injuries.

Team News:

Napoli will be without goalkeeper David Ospina this weekend as he is suffering with a finger injury sustained in training. Alex Meret is set to start in goal as a result.

Gattuso will also be without Stanislav Lobotka (tonsillitis), Andrea Petagna (calf), Amir Rrahmani (muscle) and Faouzi Ghoulam (knee).

With centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly suspended, Kostas Manolas is expected to partner Nikola Maksimovic in the heart of the defence.

After scoring twice against Roma, Mertens is likely to keep his place as the central striker ahead of Victor Osimhen.

For Crotone, left wing-back Arkadiusz Reca is back in contention to start, which will likely see Salvatore Molina revert to a central midfield role, replacing Jacopo Petriccione who is suspended.

Forward Adam Ounas, who missed the defeat to Bologna, remains a doubt due to a minor muscle issue so Samuel Di Carmine and Simy are expected to start up front.
