Inter Milan vs AC Milan Prediction & Match Preview

Inter Milan vs AC Milan
Italy – Coppa Italia
Date: Tuesday, 26 January 2021
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) (Milan).

All eyes will be on Stadio Giuseppe Meazza when Inter and Milan take on each other in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

The two main favourites for Scudetto are enjoying a very successful season, and, no doubt, an interesting encounter is on the horizon in Milano.

The Nerazzurri booked their place in the quarter-finals by beating Fiorentina on the road, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in the clash against their bitter local rivals.

Both Ivan Perisic and Alexis Sanchez are pushing for a start, while D’Ambrosio and Vecino remain in the recovery room.

The Rossoneri, on the other hand, suffered a heavy 3-0 loss to Atalanta in their last league match.

Since key midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu remains quarantined following his positive test for coronavirus, we are tempted to put our money on Antonio Conte’s troops this time out. Both Bennacer and Gabbia are sidelined with injuries.

Inter Milan vs AC Milan Head-to-head (h2h)

The host has recorded four of the last five overall wins.
Both teams have scored in three of the recent five fixtures.
None of their last five matches have ended in a draw.
Their previous encounter gave a 1-2 away win for AC Milan.
The away team has lost only one of their last ten meetings.

Team News:

Antonio Conte is usually loathe to make many changes to his lineup and will certainly rely on his usual 3-5-2 formation in the derby.

While Danilo D'Ambrosio remains out of action, the established back three - plus Samir Handanovic in goal - are set to stay unchanged.

In midfield, Roberto Gagliardini or Stefano Sensi could potentially come in to the XI, with Arturo Vidal the man in danger of dropping out. The Inter attack will be led once more by 'Lu-La': Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Milan coach Stefano Pioli's 4-2-3-1 setup will be without goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma behind it, so Ciprian Tatarusanu must deputise.

In better news for the Diavolo faithful, captain Alessio Romagnoli will be back in the centre of a much-disrupted defence and Fikayo Tomori is ready to join the squad, if not necessarily the starting lineup. Versatile stand-in Pierre Kalulu is most likely to be benched.

Influential duo Hakan Calhanoglu (COVID-19) and Ismael Bennacer (thigh strain) remain unavailable though, so Sandro Tonali and Franck Kessie should patrol the midfield - with Alexis Saelemaekers, Rade Krunic and Ante Rebic all available on the bench after returning from illness and injury last week.

Inter Milan possible starting lineup:
Handanovic; Bastoni, De Vrij, Skriniar; Perisic, Gagliardini, Brozovic, Barella, Young; Martinez, Lukaku

AC Milan possible starting lineup:
Tatarusanu; Calabria, Romagnoli, Kjaer, Hernandez; Tonali, Kessie; Castillejo, Diaz, Leao; Ibrahimovic
