Fulham vs Chelsea Prediction & Match Preview

Fulham vs Chelsea
England – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 16 January 2021
Kick-off at 17:30 UK/ 18:30 CET
Venue: Craven Cottage.

After holding Tottenham to a draw in midweek, Fulham will be looking to record their third win of the season when they face Chelsea in yet another London derby.

The Cottagers have been sharing the spoils a lot with their rivals of late, but they are seen as big underdogs in Saturday’s local derby. Fulham boss Scott Parker has a full squad to choose from.

A man to watch in the home team will be Ivan Cavaleiro, who scored the equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Spurs.

The Blues, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-1 loss to Man City, but they regained a much-needed confidence thanks to a routine 4-0 win over Morecambe.

Even though N’Golo Kante is sidelined through suspension, we are tempted to put our money on Chelsea, who are eyeing their sixth consecutive win over Fulham.

Team News:

Fulham will again be without the services of Tom Cairney and Mario Lemina through injury, while Aleksandar Mitrovic is a doubt for the contest at Craven Cottage but could yet be involved.

The Cottagers will also be unable to call upon Ruben Loftus-Cheek as the England international is ineligible against his parent club, meaning that Ademola Lookman could return to the starting XI.

Parker is expected to resist the temptation to shuffle his pack from the Spurs clash, though, meaning that the likes of Harrison Reed and Cavaleiro should keep their spots.

Chelsea will be without the suspended N'Golo Kante for Saturday's clash, but the Blues are otherwise in excellent shape, with both Reece James and Andreas Christensen available for selection once again.

Lampard has a number of decisions to make, particularly in the final third, as both Timo Werner and Kai Havertz were on the scoresheet against Morecambe in the FA Cup.

Werner could get the nod through the middle with support from Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech in the wide positions, but Havertz might drop to the bench once again, with Jorginho potentially earning a recall.
