West Brom vs Leeds Prediction & Match Preview

West Brom vs Leeds United
England – Premier League
Date: Tuesday, 29 December 2020
Kick-off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: The Hawthorns.

West Brom surprised everyone this past Sunday as they managed to hold reigning Premier League champions Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

It was a result many will argue they deserved after a dogged defensive performance, including a second half in which it could be claimed that the Baggies were the better side.

New manager Sam Allardyce has clearly made a positive impact on the squad and they’ll need to continue showing that defensive solidarity here against ultra-attacking Leeds.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men put their defensive injury crisis behind them to edge a hard-fought 1-0 win over Burnley last time out.

However, you feel that such a lack of depth in central defensive could well be exploited by a Sam Allardyce managed side, with the hosts certain to target a makeshift central defensive unit.

If West Brom can maintain the high standard of performance that they set at Anfield, then it could well prove enough to defeat the Whites and give Allardyce his first win as Albion manager.

Team News:

West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore serves the second of a three-game ban following his sending off against Aston Villa, but Matheus Pereira will hope to earn his first start since returning from a ban of his own.

Allardyce will certainly be reluctant to make many changes after taking a point off Liverpool, but tired legs may force his hand for the visit of Leeds this week.

Pereira and Charlie Austin are both options for change, but none of Hal Robson-Kanu, Kyle Bartley or Conor Townsend are expected to be back in time for this one.

Diego Llorente was expected to fill in for the absent Liam Cooper against Burnley, but Bielsa took no risks on the Spaniard and he did not make the cut on Sunday.

The centre-back will not return in time for Tuesday's game either, so Luke Ayling will be required to fill in at centre-back alongside Pascal Struijk once more.
