Sevilla vs Villarreal Prediction & Match Preview

Sevilla vs Villarreal
Spain – La Liga
Date: Tuesday, 29 December 2020
Kick-off at 16:00 UK/ 17:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan (Sevilla).

Sevilla come into this game on the back of an unbeaten three match run in the build up to Christmas which included impressive but tight away victories against Getafe and Valencia but a fairly underwhelming 1-1 draw at home to Real Valladolid.

They have played 13 matches in La Liga and they haven’t scored more than one goal on 11 occasions; which is frankly stunning. Villarreal are competing with Sevilla for Champions League qualification but could also have eyes on an unlikely title; however, that remains almost fanciful.

A 1-1 home draw to Athletic prior to Christmas extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches in the league and 18 in total.

Their solidity is built on rigidity and that is shown by a similar goals record to Sevilla. In their 15 matches, they have scored more than one on just six occasions.

Therefore, with both sides happy for a draw and both sides fairly defensive, it looks like under 2.5 goals is likely.
