The former European Cup winners were convincingly knocked out by Dynamo Dresden, who play in the league below them, during a 4-1 demolition job at the Rudolf Harbig Stadion.
Yannick Stark, Robin Becker and Christoph Daferner fired the underdogs into a 3-0 lead before the hour-mark and it wasn't until the 89th minute that Hamburg managed to breakdown their defence.
It was even more sour for Leistner as he was letting the side where he spent four years cruise to victory, with his former fans allowed back in for the first time.
And footage has emerged of the 30-year-old boiling over with anger.
