Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde agrees new contract until end of next season

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has been renewed for a year, ending his contract in the 2020/10 season with an option to extend the contract for another year.

"Barcelona and Valverde have reached an agreement to renew the contract between the two sides for another season, with the option of an additional year extension," the club said in a statement.

The new contract was signed at the club's headquarters on Friday morning, and Valverde will appear at a news conference on the evening to talk about the renewal, and Valladolid's scheduled match on Saturday in the Spanish league.

Barca, meanwhile, has ruled out the controversy surrounding his coach after several previous press reports indicated that Valverde might leave the club by the end of his contract in June.
